What happens when you follow the old advice to “write what you know”? On Long Island, Maine — a tiny Casco Bay community of just 250 people — the students of Long Island School did exactly that.
With the help of children’s book editor Karen Boss and their teachers, these young writers created Season by Season: Living on a Maine Island — a beautifully illustrated book capturing their lives, their friendships, and the rhythms of island living.
From summer days jumping off the dock to winter nights by the water, the kids put their world into poetry and pictures. The result? A published book now sold in local stores and Portland bookstores, bringing the voices of this small island to a much wider audience.
